Privacy policy

FlatRoute ("the app," "we," "us") is a running-route planner that finds flat routes from your location. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. In short: FlatRoute has no user accounts, runs no analytics or tracking of its own, and does not collect or store your personal data on any server we operate.

Information we do not collect

• We do not require or offer an account, login, or sign-up.
• We do not run our own analytics, advertising, or tracking.
• We do not operate a server that stores your personal information.
• We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Location

To find routes, FlatRoute uses your device's precise location while you are using the app. Your location is used to determine where to generate routes and to display the map around you.

We do not store your location on any server we control. To produce a route, the app sends location-derived requests (your position and the surrounding area) to the third-party services listed below, which provide the maps, route data, and elevation data the app depends on. Those services receive that data and handle it under their own privacy policies.

You can turn off location access at any time in your device's Settings. Without it, the app cannot generate routes from your current location.

Data stored on your device

Some information stays only on your device and is never transmitted to us, including your preferences (such as units) and any routes you save within the app. This data is removed when you delete the app.

Third-party services

FlatRoute relies on the following services to function. When the app makes a request, these services receive location-derived data and process it under their own privacy policies:

• Mapbox provides the map display. The Mapbox SDK may also collect usage and location telemetry by default. See the Mapbox privacy policy.
• OpenStreetMap / Overpass provides road and path data used to score routes. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
• Open-Meteo provides elevation data. See the Open-Meteo terms.

We do not control how these third parties handle data. Please review their policies if you have questions about their practices.

How we use information

Any information the app handles is used only to provide its core function: finding and displaying running routes. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the app's features.

Data retention

Because we do not operate a server that collects your personal data, we have nothing to retain on our side. Data stored locally on your device remains there until you delete it or remove the app. Data sent to the third-party services above is retained according to their own policies.

Children's privacy

FlatRoute is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us.

Your choices

• Revoke location access at any time in your device's Settings.
• Delete the app to remove all locally stored data.
• Review and, where offered, adjust the telemetry settings of the third-party services above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. If we begin collecting data in new ways (for example, adding analytics, crash reporting, or user accounts), we will update this policy and the app's App Store privacy disclosures before that version ships. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
